Happy Days: Shopping, Picnics & Parent’s Evening

I am joining in again this week with the ‘Happy Days’ post, a link hosted by Katy at What Katy Said and Sian at Quite Frankly She Said. The purpose of the link is to inspire you to find happiness in each day, making the most of even the most monotonous of days. I like the concept as often it can be difficult to find the time to spot the precious little moments that bring such joy and happiness.
It has been a hectic week at work and so finding the energy in the evenings to do anything other than cook and keep on top of the housework has been difficult. However, it means the week has zoomed by and amongst all the craziness there has been some lovely tender moments.
So what has made me happy this week?
– Spending the day in London with Archie last Saturday. I took off into London to allow Daddy to crack on with some work from home. Archie had been off nursery the previous week with a nasty chesty cough and so Daddy had been home with him which meant a fairly unproductive week for him. We had great fun on the train journey spotting all the different trains en route and had a really lovely sit down lunch where Mummy managed to sip on a hot latte whilst Archie munched away.

– Whilst Archie was having a sleep I managed to do a bit of shopping, albeit nothing for me! I spotted this fab little t-shirt in Mothercare and grabbed a nice selection of t-shirts in the GAP mid-season sale. All I need now is for the sun to come back so he can wear them!
– Not so much of a bargain were the new trainers we needed to get Archie this week but they flash and it makes him so happy!

– Feeding the little coot on the new river path and seeing the fascination in Archie as the coot followed him on his scooter all the way. ‘I think he likes me Mum!’

– Making time at the weekend to allow Archie to spend time with his best buddy from nursery.
– Having a picnic in the brief moment of sunshine, I can’t wait till this becomes a weekend routine rather than a rarity. Come on sunshine!
– Finding Lego bargains in our local department store clearance section.
– Very positive feedback from the first nursery Parent’s evening – my little boy is ready for school! When did that happen?
– Watching ‘Normal for Norfolk’ and dreaming of another trip to Norfolk this year if we can manage it. It is a documentary series following eccentric farmer Desmond as he struggles to keep his home, Wiveton Hall, a 17th-century manor home afloat, while holding on to tradition.
– Flicking through the RSPB magazine with Archie, impressed to hear him name species of butterflies that he can remember from last summer. He’s a little sponge! Blue morph is his favourite in case you are interested.
– Catching up on the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy (undisturbed!)- 12 series’ in and still hugely addictive.

  1. Isn’t it amazing the things children remember. They really are like little sponges! I used to love butterflies when I was little, I still do but I can’t remember the names anymore. Thanks so much for linking up to #HappyDaysLinky x

  2. I love Norfolk, I wanted to move there at one point but teaching jobs just weren’t available there at the time. Haven’t been in a few years now but want to go to Great Yarmouth this summer! Glad you had a good week. Thank you for sharing in #HappyDaysLinky x
