Center Parcs

It has taken me a week almost to write this post. We got back from a week away at CenterParcs Sherwood forest. We went with my Mum, Dad & Sister who met us there. The weather wasn’t great, we had some rainy days but we still managed to bask in a little late September sunshine. It didn’t really matter as there was so much to do, inside and out, we hardly noticed to be honest. We stayed in villa in the middle of the forest, surrounded but wildlife and adventure activities galore!

The whole complex is centred around a village complex with a beautiful lake, teaming with ducks, swans & their signets, moorhens, coots & geese. Archie loved the wildlife and we came away with an increased vocabulary list of animals! It was lovely first thing in the morning to see him so excited to get up and look out onto the patio to see if the ducks were there and if they were to go and get the feed for them.

It soon became routine that we would head to the tropical swimming paradise first thing in the morning, every other day they would open the pool for toddlers and parents from 9.30-10am for a session known as ‘Dolphins’ where a form of swimming lessons was provided, free of charge. Archie loved the water, and it was so nice for all of us to go before we headed back to the villa for a spot of lunch to re-charge the batteries and let Archie have a nap before we would go out to do something in the afternoon.

We hired bikes to make our away around the place, with a trailer for Archie.

One of our worries about going to CenterParcs was the cost of everything even once you were there. But once we had hired the bikes, we didn’t spend too much thereafter. For children of Archie’s age, there was plenty of free outdoor adventure playgrounds, beautifully crafted from wood, with indoor soft play facilities in most restaurants and indoor leisure centres that you could use without having to purchase anything. I can see how it could become very expensive with slightly older children and we will keep this in mind for future visits. But overall we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the amount of time we spent outdoors, Archie also thoroughly enjoyed his time there, with such an active little boy who really never stays still and becomes agitated with any prolonged period indoors, it was a well deserved break for Reuben & I (to a degree!) and chance to let our hair down!
