We took an afternoon trip to Van Hage Garden Centre this afternoon, only half an hour from Enfield. We have been here quite a number of times and it is beautiful to visit in the winter with all the Christmas decorations. In the spring and summer, the animal gardens (which is actually a licensed zoo) are great for both the adults and children to wander through. And they are free! Archie had fun chasing the chickens and meeting the skunk.
At the back of the centre resides East Herts Miniature Railway. A 7.25″ gauge railway which completes two circuits of beautifully landscaped gardens and includes a trip over a pond and through a tunnel! Tickets cost just 90p (free for under 2’s) and is open every weekend from 11-5pm on Saturdays and 10.30-4.30pm on Sundays. Archie loved the train ride with enthusiastic ‘choo choo’ noises the whole way! This will not be our last visit here.
